The Reward System

Hello lovelies! It's time for week two of The Biggest Loser: Blogger Edition, brought to you by Ashley, Chelsea and Jenn!

Our version of The Biggest Loser is a little different than the one you see on TV! In Blogger Edition, no one gets kicked off, and we aren't just trying to lose weight. Instead we are creating a place to go when you need a little motivation, when you need to voice your frustration, when you are looking for a healthy recipe, when you are looking for a new workout to try. This is the healthiest link-up on the net!

So grab a button, link up and enjoy!

Weight Update....

Weight lost last week-   1.8lbs!
Weight lost to date-   3.4lbs!
Weight loss to go-     31.6lbs!

Non Scale Victory- I prepped myself before going to the SuperBowl party I went to on Sunday! I made (gluten free) buffalo chicken dip so that I could having something to eat & brought gluten free chocolates with me! I even had dinner BEFORE the party so I wasn't tempted to snack quite so much!

So, I don't know about y'all but I like to reward myself.
Getting to the gym three times in a row? Reward needed! Not sending that late night text you just know you shouldn't send? Reward completely necessary!

Naturally, I have the same feelings when I decide that I want to loose weight. I know what some (maybe many!) of you are thinking. Shouldn't the weight loss alone be enough?! Why do you need a tangible or "feel good reward" too?

To be honest, the answer is two fold...

A) I like to reward myself- plain and simple! I'm working HARD to get where I want to be and I want to recognize that!

B) I have (as so many of us do...) a tendency to reward myself with food! I got a promotion at work- dinner to celebrate! I'm having an awful day at the office-taking myself out to lunch! I kept my cool and didn't text that guy-cupcake!

Obviously, though, food rewards are NOT the way to go when dieting- or ever really! I'm trying to change my lifestyle to that of a healthy one- which includes changing my "rewards program."

I've decided to put a plan into place for myself. I'm going to reward myself for every 5lbs lost. This means I get a total of 7 rewards over the course of however long it takes me to shed this weight!

Here's what I have so far-

5lbs- Tervis Tumbler
10lbs- pedicure
15lbs- new yoga mat
20lbs- facial
25lbs- Decorations for my bedroom!
30lbs- new jeans
35lbs- Weekend away!

The best part about this? I can change it whenever I want to! Lets say that I want to switch the goal or the weight loss it's associated with- I totally can!

Have you ever rewarded yourself for weight loss? What were your goals? Did it help motivate you? I'd love to know!

  5. Those are good rewards. I'm trying to give up pop completely. I have a challenge with a friend of mine (she's changing a behavior too) to see if we can keep it up from New Year through Tax Day. So far, I'm doing fine. I haven't had any pop since Jan. 1, and I really don't miss it. I've even resisted the ultimate temptations -- hangover (fountain coke is my cure) and restaurants (especially the ones with all the flavors you can add). When I get to the finish and am still pop-free, I'm treating myself to new running crop pants.
